P7 & M3 - Use IT tools to produce IT management information & generate valid, accurate and useful information

The two images above show part of the database that DataHouse, my organisation, and I created to be a solution for the John Bentley School's current tracking system. The top image shows the overview of the database, while the second image shows a more detailed look at a student's grades. The IT tool that I primarily used to create the database was Microsoft Access due to how easy the software was to "get to grips" with, which I needed with the short timescale in which I had to complete the task assigned to me. Once it was created, I was able to use queries on the database to help me find and organise information than if I had done it manually.

The data that was inputted into the database (and subsequently the information made by using the database) was all valid, accurate and useful to a degree. I knew that the data was valid as it all came from up-to-date databases and reports made by the school, which consequently allowed me to say with certainty that the data and information present was accurate as well. The way in which the information that came from the database was useful is that it can allow the school to see how many grades different to the minimum grade the student had attained. For example, the student in the second image was a grade higher in Drama, at their minimum grade in PE and one grade below in ICT (shown in the "Variation" column). This can help teachers to see that more support is needed in ICT and so can implement that support, thus proving the information to be useful.
